MARY MARTIN

Early influences of an English childhood combined with a young adulthood spent in the former Yugoslavia reference most of my work in a mixture of culture, tradition and 'make do and mend' ethic.
My work is mainly hand stitching using eco-dyed cloth and thread and found fabrics, sometimes further distressed or painted.
Space is left to the imagination in particular with more recent work, where the viewer is invited to picture what may be through the door or around the corner.
